Guess who met Steve Spangler?…

As many of you know, I had the great privilege of being sent to the “Science in the Rockies” conference created by the Steve Spangler Institute. I spent 3 days doing nothing but super fun science experiments led by our favorite science man himself, Steve Spangler! I can’t wait to share some really fun activities and experiments with all of you when G3 returns in September.

The video below is just a taste of some of the fun I had (try not to be jealous!). It’s a contraption built from a leaf blower that shoots massive amounts of ping pong balls REALLY far thanks to the concentrated air pressure. I’d show more images from the conference, but I don’t want to spoil any of the science surprises 🙂

See you in September!…

Reminder: This week tracks A & B are combined!

madscientistHi, G3 scientists!

Just a reminder that because I was out sick last week for the Track A program, I am inviting all Track A kids to come to the Track B program this Thursday on April 3rd. Trust me – it’s going to be tons of fun – so I hope I see everyone there!

G3 ‘Summer of the Robots’ is almost here!

The G3 Summer of the Robots is almost here! The class list and the wait list for our 3-part summer series are already full, and the programs are going to be a blast. As a reminder, G3 is teaming up with the Cheshire High School MECHA RAMS Robotics team to learn about the wonderful world of robotics competitions. The teens from Cheshire High will do some demonstrations, share stories from their competitions, and mentor our G3 scientists with some hands-on practice with robots. We’ll even create some teams and have a final competition on the 3rd program date. I can’t wait to see you all there! As a reminder, the program dates are July 11, 18, and 25. See you soon!

Hello there!

I know things have been pretty crazy at the library recently with the construction, so I wanted to provide a quick update to all of my scientists with our summer programming schedule…particularly since we’re going to do program registration a little bit differently going forward. I’m hoping that there won’t be such difficulty signing up for the programs you want to attend!

Beginning in July 2012, you will register for 3 programs at a time, and there will be two sets of dates to choose from. This summer, your choices are as follows:

  • TRACK A:  July 5, 19, and August 2
  • TRACK B:  July 12, 26, and August 9

I will duplicate programs between the two tracks, so be sure to only register for one of the tracks. There will then be a break through the end of August while I ramp up to do another series of programs beginning in September. We will use this pattern going forward.

If you have any questions, you know where to find me. I hope to see you this summer! 🙂
